Every weekend I go round the charity shops to pick up a book or three for the following week. This benefits both me getting the books for a lot less than the original price, and the charity itself as they get to use my money for good causes. I do have a few charity shops which are relatively close to me, and I rotate which shop I use so no one charity is getting favourable treatment.
As I work most of the weekend starting Saturday afternoon, I don’t get much of a chance to read whatever it is I have picked up over the weekend, so today (Monday), I get my first chance to look at them.
This week I got “The Killing Files” by Nikki Owen, “The Killer in the Snow” by Alex Pine and “Accused” by Mark Gimenez.
These are all new authors to me, so this should be a good diversion for this week. Reviews will follow shortly after.
I find charity shops are a very good for finding books that are of a decent quality, some in almost ‘like new’ condition. I do have a problem with bent spines on books, and will actively avoid buying anything in that condition. I’ve never understood why people do this, every book in my collection has a clean, un-creased spine.
I have also changed the look and feel for the site. I felt the previous theme was just too busy. The new theme is very simple and loads a lot quicker, with fewer distractions.
